Family is an essential unit in the community as it lays the foundation of trust, hope, love and respect. It has a huge influence in children’s social and emotional well-being which later forms their character and core values in life.
When asked to draw a family portrait, the children bunched up with beaming smiles which shows how they like to draw people especially their family. Using a classic pencil and crayon technique, children were able to make an adorable family portrait.
It was so mesmerising to see how children plan and think critically about what each family member looks like and make choices about how to draw and colour them. The experience was definitely one for the books. I can only imagine the sense of self-pride and confidence that it can build in the children. Family portraits help them establish their own identity and feel a sense of belongingness. When they feel loved and cared for, they can generate kindness to others in amazing ways possible.
