In line with our SSDB Theme: “Family and Community, They are a Part of Me”, we had planned and provided different learning activities for children to have a deeper understanding on the importance of each community helper and connect their learning to the real world. They were also given opportunities to show their appreciation and love for their mum and dad as they took part in our Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations. They developed their sense of creativity in expressing their thoughts and feelings through a variety of craft works and the use of technology through video greetings for their mummies.
“Career Day”
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” This is the question we usually ask the children and even at an early age, they could already tell you what they want to be and who their favourite community helpers are.
On 26th April 2022, we incorporated a “Career Day” in our lessons to give tribute to all the frontliners and community helpers. It helped the children build their confidence and develop their vocabularies as they were introduced to different community helpers including the tools and equipment they use. The children came to school dressed up in different occupations such as doctor, nurse, firefighter, police officer, CEO, engineer, zoo keeper, teacher, chef and soldier. They came well prepared for their Show and Tell. Indeed, it was a day full of hope. Hope that one day, these children will all make a difference and make this world a better place.
“Mother’s Day 2022”
Amazing, loving, strong, happy, selfless, graceful: these are some of the many words that could describe a mother.
On 6th May 2022, children showed their appreciation for their mothers by thanking them for all the love and what they have done. They wished their mothers through their crafts and sweet video messages from the N2-K2 children. Just as lovely as every mum, a lovely Mother’s Day photobooth was set up outside the centre where the children took some photos with their mum on this special day.
“Father’s Day 2022”
The children celebrated Father’s Day on 16th June 2022. Each child created a beautiful artwork for their fathers and wrote sweet messages thanking them for all the love, care and work they have done for them. As it was a special day, a special photobooth for dads was set up outside the centre where the children took some awesome photos with their fathers.
