Phase 1: Exploration
Activity: Why do plants have different textures
Focus: Plants We Can Feel
After the children collected and labelled the leaves they found at the Rooftop Spice Garden @ OUE Downtown Gallery 2, the children were eager to find answers to their burning question- “Why do plants look different and feel different from each other?”
Hence, Teacher Philiz asked, them “How can we find out? Who can we ask?” The children joked about asking the trees and flowers however came to a conclusion that we could either ask Mummy and Daddy or look in the phone or computer for answers. The children were tasked to go home and ask their Mummies and Daddies if they know why plants loom different.
The next day, the children gathered what they’ve found out from their Mummies and Daddies, and shared it with the class. The children decided that we should check on the internet to see if what they’ve found was accurate, hence we looked online and watched a video by Doctor Binocs, about plant adaptations!
Our projects are driven by children, and facilitated to the children. The children are given the opportunity to problem-solve, by suggesting different questions and solutions, then executing them or experimenting through them. We encourage every child to think of solutions writhing their means, therefore, we will still facilitate the children to look for videos and cartoons on the related topic as suggested by them. ☺️
