After two years of successful Start Small Dream Big projects, we were very excited to embark on our third Start Small Dream Big journey. In the previous two years, we have collaborated with St Hilda’s school as well as parents to bring joy in the form of games as well as performances for orphans and the elderly of Senior Pacific Activity Centre.
Having collaborated with the Senior Pacific Activity Centre before, we were able to take go even further and take the session outdoors and incorporate our current Intergrated Project on Healthy Living by joining the elderly for an outdoor workout.
Prior to the visit, the Kindergarten 2 children and teachers practised simple workouts such as child Zumba in preparation for the workout with the elderly. The children also packed goodie bags which were then given out to the elderly at the end of the workout session.
On the 18th of July 2019, we embarked on our Start Small Dream Big journey by heading over to Senior Pacific Activity Centre to greet the elderly. We then went outdoors to the nearby Multi Purpose Hall to begin our activity. Children from the nursery level all the way up to the kindergarten 2 level came out to join in on the fun. The children were very proud to present the goodie bags to the seniors. It was a successful and joyous event for both the children and the elderly!
After the event, the children were very eager to reflect on their experience and enjoyed filling up their Start Small Dream Big journals. They were able to reflect on the importance of giving back to the community and spending time with the elderly in Singapore. The children also expressed the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
We look forward to more successful Start Small Dream Big projects in the upcoming years!
