In continuation to our SSDB project focus on the 3Rs, our centre also collaborates with Jurong West Nursing Home to connect our young children with the residents. Through this collaboration, we hope to provide opportunities for them to show care and concern as well as be respectful towards people in our community.
In our centre, both K1 and N2 children worked together with our supportive parents to contribute their parts in this project for the finale.

Wow! Our supportive parents busy creating shakers for the residents of Jurong West Nursing Home
Here we are… finally delivering the bags of shakers to the residents for their participation in our event via virtual meeting on 14 Sep 22!
On 14 Sep 2022, our K1 children gathered to meet our respectful residents @Jurong West Nursing Home via Zoom. Children were excited to interact with them through activities specially planned for the event.
The residents, with the assistance of the nursing home staff, started off with playing ‘Memory Game’ (things associated with Mid-Autumn Festival’). It was heartwarming to see both parties engaged in the activity - one picking numbered picture cards and the other helping to flip them for correct match respectively, with joyful cheering on!
Next, they continued with another activity on ‘Guessing Popular Tunes’. Thereafter, the residents were led to another activity ‘Memory Lane’ where they tried to figure out from the pictures shown and name the Place of Interest/familiar places such as Haw Par Villa, Chinatown, Mustaffa Centre, Sentosa etc. There was much reminiscing over the pictures shown.
Our young volunteers were also invited to step forward each at a time to try interacting with the residents.
Lastly, our children performed a song item with their self-made recyclable shakers along with the residents joining in with shakers created by our parents. It was a joyful event for all, with a wish that we can meet up physically again! With that, we also hope to experience collaborating with more partners in our future SSDB projects!
