The K1 children were given the opportunity to sing and dance along to a song entitled, “Empathy Song”. They also engaged in a dramatisation where they were given different roles to play (e.g pedestrian crossing with elderly man/ woman). From these two learning experiences, they were able to demonstrate an understanding of empathy, which means the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. To show their empathy towards the elderly, the children created an “Empathy Fan. They were given an outline of a fan on a big piece of paper. Then, they decorated it using crepe papers of different colours to create a rainbow design.
On the last week of September, we invited parents from the K1 and K2 classes to take part in another Food Donation Drive. Parents from these two levels contributed food items such as canned foods, condiments, dry food, noodles, biscuits and cordial drinks from 27th September to 29th September. The K2 children assisted in sorting out the food items accordingly in boxes.
On the last day of the Food Donation Drive, staff from Bright Hill Evergreen Home came down to our centre to collect the food items and the Empathy Fan done by the K1 children.
