At the end of Term 3, we brought a close to our SSDB Project on Celebrating Diversity. Our school’s project on the Seven Continents was also completed. Now that children have learned about the people, cultures, celebrations and landmarks in the seven continents, it was time to recall and reflect. Due to the ongoing pandemic, we were not able to invite parents to the school hence we got them involved by working on the SSDB reflection journal with their children. With the help of parents, children wrote about the countries and cultures they come from. Then they reflected on a particular country/ culture that they learned during the project period and would like to learn more about. After the September school holidays, children presented their journals through Show and Tell facilitated by their teacher. It has been a delightful learning journey. Teachers and children gained insights and knowledge about the world’s cultures through this SSDB project. For two terms the countries felt closer than we thought they were. Songs and music from South Africa and Mexico played through the school. All of us learned to embrace the diversity in this world and respect people from all races and cultures. Till the next! ⭐️
