As part of our continued efforts towards cultivating sustainable practices, children from My First Skool Blk 212 Chua Chu Kang Central has embarked on planting vegetable cuttings and composting food scraps to create fertiliser for these plants. The children have suggested to use different types of fruits and vegetable peels to create a good compost and enjoyed watching the growth process of their plants in the class.
The centre has also embarked on a ‘Plant a Bean’ project by inviting children, parents and families to take the pledge together to ‘save the world’ by growing beansprouts from home. They are also encouraged to compost food scraps and witness the growing process of their beansprouts. Through this activity, it further raises awareness among children and parents on how composting is able to reduce climate impact while also recycling nutrients.
