We started our project last 11th April 2022 with the aim to raise awareness about the intergeneration programs as deliberated attempts to connect our seniors in the community with our children. We also wanted to inculcate good values in our children and encouraged them to give back to the society.
Our children collaborated with Moral Home for the Aged Sick, Orange Valley and Sparkle Care to work in this project wherein our K1 children will do canvass painting with a ‘Garden’ theme, as recent studies show that looking at garden paintings represents the beginning of life, symbolise love and passion and they can, perhaps most fundamentally, relay a space of comfort, reliance and hope.
With the completed master art pieces, K1 children together with their parents did a gallery walk last 23rd May 2022. Children took pride and ownership with their paintings as they showcase it to their family.
Parents were encouraged to contribute somefood items like a packet of biscuit, milo, coffee, tea, oat meals or canned goods in exchange of their child’s painting. All the food contributions were given back to our community stakeholders such as Moral Home for the Aged Sick, Orange Valley and Sparkle Care.
Through this project, children were able to instill to ‘spirit of good deeds’ to our community. Children were able to see and understand the importance of giving back especially to the elderly.
