Lion dances, dragon dances, parades, lantern festivals, fireworks displays, and reunion dinners— these are just some of the exciting festivities Singaporeans look forward to during Chinese New Year.
However, in the light of the current pandemic, these activities had to adapt to the safety restrictions and were not as visible and as grand as usual.
That is why we brought the lion dance and other cultural highlights to the children themselves here at Skool4Kidz Campus @ Sengkang Riverside Park. Not even COVID-19 could dim our spirits and stop us from celebrating our heritage (while following safe management measures of course)!
The Kindergarten 2 children donned the lion costume and danced to the beat played by their mini marching band. We also had a special visit from Cáishén, the God of Wealth, who brought red packets for everyone.
Children had fun while learning about the Chinese culture through art activities where they created their own chuāng huā and fu.
For us at SKC, it was a fun day of gathering (in small groups) and celebrating the New Year away! How did your Chinese Celebration look like?
