Caring is saving

SSDB cum RACIAL HARMONY DAY!

Our final activity for SSDB was integrated during Racial Harmony which is all about unity despite differences in race, language and religion, a good glimpse of making a stand to be the advocates in saving planet earth and to make a difference in our own little way.

On 24th of August 2018, our centre organized Racial Harmony Day celebration by setting up different booths that showcases various aspects about multicultural in Singapore. The event highlighted SSDB booth with the aim to go green and implement the three R’s - Reuse, Reduce and Recycle and saving water. Parents were invited to take part in the event together with their children. Some residents were encouraged to participate and be part of the event too. It was held in Kebun Baru Community Centre. The presence of our Advisor, Mr Henry Kwek made the occasion more inspiring and relevant.

During the celebration, parents, children and spectators together with the grassroot advisor embarked the event by creating self -watered potted plants made of reusable plastic bottles. After a short demonstration, they started to create their own crafted bottles wherein a new life blossom and contributed in giving back the earth its green power, thus encouraged residents to reuse empty bottles instead of disposing them. It was a fun filled experience for the children with their parent.

In conclusion, the event focused on saving planet earth, providing children better understanding of their roles in preserving and caring for the environment not only for their future but until the next generation as well. With this, children, parents, residents and teachers worked hand in hand towards to stand and firmly believe that”No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.”
