Kiddiwinkie Schoolhouse @ Cactus decided to show our appreciation and care for the Pioneer Generation by visiting a nursing home.
As the K2 children embarked on the topic of “Uniquely Singapore“, they understood the importance of the Pioneer Generation in the building of Singapore into where we are today. They actively brainstormed about how they can show appreciation towards them. Through the course of this project, our aim is to instill the values of thankfulness and appreciation in our children by encouraging them to show support and companionship to the pioneers.
In preparation for the trip, the Playgroup, Pre-Nursery and Nursery children enthusiastically crafted heart-warming art pieces as tokens of appreciation for the pioneers. These art pieces were nicely framed and intended as gifts for the elderly.
We also gathered parents’ support by opening up a food and necessities donation drive to donate items that were requested by the elderly home.
Finally, the Kindergaten 1 and Kindergarten 2 children went on a trip to Man Fut Tong Nursing home to visit the elderly there. The K2’s engaged in playing puzzle games with the elderly and providing them with assistance to complete the puzzles, while the K1’s lead the elderly in simple hand exercises. The visit concluded with a special performance by the K2 children!
This experience left the children with a sense of achievement and joy, knowing they had brought happiness to the elderly of the nursing home!
