We are excited to share our SSDB Project on “Caring for Nature and Environment”.
After some discussion with our children on how plants give us clean air to breathe, homes for animals, fruits, and vegetables for us to eat, we decided to learn more about planting in order to create a healthier and greener environment around us.
Our children learn how to plant seeds, take care of young sprouts, and watch them grow into yummy vegetables. Through these hands-on activities, they learn about the plant life cycle, photosynthesis, and the various factors that affect plant growth, such as sunlight, water, and nutrients. They also realise that plants need consistent care, attention, and time to grow.
Hence, they learn about responsibility, commitment, patience, and perseverance.
We also introduced water conservation by getting children to collect water during raining days. This water is being used for watering the plants.
We also involved the parents. They contribute the recycling containers, beans, and onions for planting. In return, we get children to plant some flowers for the Mother’s Day which they will continue to nurture at home. This serves as a beautiful and meaningful gesture through which they can express their deep love and heartfelt gratitude for their mother.
As a celebration for our success, the children get to taste the yummy spring onion egg pancake and role play “Jack and the Beanstalk” around the plant.
Below, we have attach a video of our 2023 SSDB journey! Enjoy!
