Showing care for the elderlies begins with us. We are never too young to start appreciating our pioneers and to show our appreciation to them.
To kickstart the project, the teachers got the children to reflect and think about how they can care for the pioneers, starting with their grandparents. We worked on children showing appreciation to their grandparents through practical ways like thanking grandparents for picking them from school and to invite them for school events.
To further involve the children in appreciating our nation builders, we planned for a visit to the NTUC Silver circle at Bukit Merah. Parents were involved by bringing in food to be donated to the elders. The children also prepared items to perform with the elders and was engaged in creating a handicraft alongside them. Throughout the visit, the children were observed to be engaging with the elderlies and accomodating to their needs. It was heartening to see the children showing such love and care for the pioneers!
