Our project strives to boost children’s emphathy and care towards the elderly in Singapore. We aim to nurture a sense of appreciation in our children. They will not only learn to honour their grandparents but be kind to our elderly relatives, neighbours and community around them.
To spark off our project, the story ‘Grandpa Grumps’ was read to our children to bring about awareness on their grandparents and elderlies in the Lions Home. As they listened to the story, our children were encouraged to share on things that they would do to make their grandparents happy. We moved further into the topic and encouraged them to find other ways we can help to cheer our elderlies in the Lions Home.
On the 17th to 21st of May we held our Giving Week at our centre. Children, parents and residents were invited to donate necessity items from the Lions Home ‘wishlist’.
Our children also learned to make flower stalks by carefully folding the papers that was taught by their teachers. These flower stalks are specially made as a gift to the elderlies.
Our children, parents and residents have donated generously in kind and all proceeds together with our children’s Blooming Box consisting of their flower stalks was sent out to the Lions Home for the Elders (Bedok) on 1st June 2021.
