A healthy lifestyle starts with a healthy diet! In May, we introduced ‘My Healthy Plate’ and taught children to make healthier choices when it comes to food. To bring healthy eating home, we involved the parents to make fruit cracker pizzas with their child at home. Some families invented their own versions of fruit snacks like puffs, tarts, parfaits and smoothies.
‘My Healthy Plate’ is a healthy eating guideline for everyone, it consists of a quarter (wholegrains), quarter (protein), half (fruits and vegetables) plate to make up a healthy and balanced meal.
Remember to have at least one serving (2 to 6 years old) or two servings (7 years old and above including adults) of fruits and vegetables every day. Choose water instead of sugar sweetened beverages, use healthier oils and try to get products with the Healthier Choice Symbol (HCS) the next time you shop in the supermarkets.
