This year SSDB is very special to all of us in PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ Keat Hong Blk 484. We had our final project during the Children’s Day celebration where we had planned a carnival with various booths for the children and parents to enjoy with our special guest our MP Mr Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim.
We started to send email to a number of beneficiaries to ask if they are keen to collaborate with us as early as in May.2022. Three of them responded and agreed and they are Bethany Nursing Home, Pertapis Children Home and Thye Hua Kwan Family Service Centre. Teachers have been talking to their children about caring, sharing, giving and generosity to create awareness of these topics. A month before the event, we broadcast a letter through littlelives asking parents for food items to be donated to our beneficiaries. These food item that they donated will be exchanged for tokens to be use at any of the booths during carnival. The response was overwhelming and we managed to give each beneficiary a hamper plus six big boxes containing food items such as cereals, instant noodles, bottled jam, instant oats, canned fruits/food, bottled Ribena, tin/instant milo and many more. The best part is we managed to ask our MP Mr Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim to join us to present the hamper to the beneficiaries. Thye Hua Kwan representatives were not able to join us on the event day so they came the next day to collect their hamper and six boxes containing food items.
The children had a fruitful journey learning about caring for others, giving to the less fortunate and instilling the habit of being generous towards others. Thank you to our SCP Mdm Zaleha, all teachers, non-teaching staffs and parents for their support and involvement in this project to make it a successful one.
