As part of our Start Small, Dream Big collaboration, N2- K2 children participated yet again in another successful project which embarked a fruitful journey with St Luke’s ElderCare Active Ageing Hub @ Northshore.
The objective was to strengthen intergenerational relationship where they bridge to value, respect, care and communicate towards the elderly.
This enabled the children to put in their best performances for the elderly as they sang songs with actions, followed by a story dramatisation on the “Three Little Pigs” where the elders joined in with the actions by huffing, puffing and blowing the houses down. They were actively involved in the dramatisation which intrigued both children and elders with excitement and laughter.
The interactions not only brought in delightful exchanges but compassion and emphaty towards the elderly to create a joyful experience. Our Start Small, Dream Big project unites children and elderly proving creativity knows no age bounds, as they participated in an art activity related to the story by decorating the house with the materials pre-prepared for them. Children and seniors created a beautiful house with the experience of magic of intergenerational connection.
Wow, the end product was amazing. This project created awareness among children to show kindness, compassion, respect and value the elders in simplest way which helps to bridge the intergenerational and instil good values in them which will go a long way. They had a closure as the children gave them a little goody bag.
The elderly were delighted and cherished an we have brought out the child in them.
By these implementations, it has inspired the children to develop meaningful relationship with elders, fostering a sense of community and social responsibility!
