Accoding to the NEL Framework, when families are involved in what their children are learning in the preschool, they are more likely to cooperate and form stronger ties and commitment to the centres. Therefore, I linked Bucket Filling at Home through our SHELL Programme which harnesses the strengths and expertise of families and builds positive home school relationships.
SHELL as a Home-School enrichment programme, gave children the opportunity to echo teach the concept learnt at school to their homes while creating a purposeful bonding moment with their families. At the same time, helped develop healthy dispositions and build a positive character.
The children had a show and tell of the artwork that they have created along with their parents. Afterwhich, they crafted a kindness pledge stating the kind deeds they promise to do towards their peers, families and communities. They sealed their kindness act with a colourful handprint. I gathered their crafts and formed them into a Kindness Quilt which I posted at the school’s lobby to remind them of their promising pursuits.
Generally, the Bucket Filling activity is a special part of K2’s Kindness advocacy. Together with families, teachers and peers we can make the world a better place to live in by spreading love and kindness to one another.
