During our first visit to St. John’s for the year, PUB planned several activities for the children and elderly to get to know each other better and at the same time, learn ways to save water. This involved them playing a fishing game which taught them the different water saving habits that they were encouraged to implement. They sang the song “Let’s go save water” and had the elderly bop along to the catchy tune! PUB also specially prepared and provided the children with little tokens to give out the the elderly to remind them about the good water saving habits. Through the activities and craft that they did, the children slowly started to warm up and initiated small conversations with the elderly person that they were partnered with. They learnt each other’s names and joked about while having fun at the same time! After the activities, the children were hungry and decided to share the snacks that they brought along with their new found friends. We also spent some time tending to on our adopted garden plot by getting rid of weeds, watering old plants and planting new ones!
