This is the first time Kampong Kapor Methodist Church Kindergarten participated in SSDB.
We collaborated with AVA and SOSD. Ms Maggie from AVA came to the Kindergarten to do a show and tell on pets, and how we can be responsible pet owners, to love and care for pets. The children did their wish cards and had them displaed. With Ms Susan and Ms Joanna the teachers of K1 and K2 classes, the children were guided.
Children from the K1 and K2 classes began the project by making soft toys for pets. This was brought home to collaborate with parents. Parents help their child to make and create soft toys with old clothing or rags.
The children from K1 and K2 made two separate trips to AVA. The children were able to experience and be in contact with the pets at AVA. It consists of touching some pets, understanding a pet’s nature and most importantly to be loving and responsible to pets.
The K2 had an extra learning journey to SOSD, where they were able to witness what a shelter home is and the children displayed empathy and compassion towards these pets at the shelter home.
The soft toys were presented to the pets and the children had a sense of accomplishment and a sense and were looking forward to visit the shelter home a second time.
