The children learned about caring for people with disabilities by learning about the diversity in our human race. They were introduced to story books that depicted people of different abilities and the assidtuve equipment that they used.
The children learned about the inclusivity of our neighbourhood and studied the best texture ramps should be for wheelchair- users. Through experimenting with sand paper, aluminum foil and foam paper, they discovered that a crumpled foil worked well to slow down the speed of wheels while still allowing the person to get down safely. The children documented their learning using recording sheets. As a group, they discussed and ranked the material from fastest to slowest before the experiment and wrote down their findings after.
