In conjunction to our SSDB 2019, our Centre decided to do our part in taking care of our Earth. We decided to work on our Environmental Activities such as 3R, planting and keeping the environment clean.
Firstly, we invited a professional speaker from NEA to share with us on matters relating to the 3Rs. The children we curious and wanting to know more on how they can do their part.
Children are encouraged to work together with their parents on a Home-School Project based on the topic that they are taught. They are to use recycyled materials to create houses or transport.
Children also worked together with the elderly from Yew Tee SparkleCare Senior Care Centre, using plastic bottles to create vases to plant mint, okra, basil and cherry tomatoes. On the first session children went to Yew Tee SparkleCare Senior Care Centre to decorate the plastic bottles with the elderly. They design and decorate the plastic bottles.
On the second session, the children and elderly did their planting by adding soil and seeds in the decorated bottles.
We also collaborated with Unity Primary School to have a clean-up session in our neighbourhood. Buddied with the primary school children, our children did litter picking at Pang Sua Canal.
We were also invited to Unity Primary School to attend their Green Learning Activities. Our children got the opportunities to see their school garden and play games that were made using recyclable materials.
With all the activities we did, we really hope that our children learn and understand the importance on how we can do our part in ensuring the well being of our environment.
