“The best way to measure how much you’ve grown isn’t by inches or the number of laps you can now run around the track, or even your grade point average– though those things are important, to be sure. It’s what you’ve done with your time, how you’ve chosen to spend your days, and whom you’ve touched this year. That, to me, is the greatest measure of success.” ~ Wonder, The movie (2017)
As the K1’s and K2’s continued through the process of our caring and respecting for the elderly project, we received an unexpected call from one of the secondary schools in Pasir Ris. The Sec 3 NT students from Meridien Secondary School were interested to collaborate and assist our C.A.R.E project movement by making a visit to our centre to give a talk to their little brothers and sisters from Nursery to K2 level, about ‘Kindness’
The presentation and sharing session lasted for about 15 minutes; with some questions coming from the students or to the students from the little ones. Some of our teachers took the liberty of sharing what ‘Kindness’ means to them too which gave the children a clearer view of the kindness act that we do with the elderly.
The students were then divided into 4 groups and deployed to each classrooms of Nursery to K2, to assist them with the craft making which will be sold for auction during our upcoming Charity Carnival Day.
“Pictures is worth a thousand words” as we see these wonderful sec 3 students transformed into a caring and loving bigger brothers and sisters to our little younglings. They displayed wonderful traits of our PRAISE disposition; as they patiently guided the children through in completing their art work and making it look awesomely good for the auction sale.
Due to their actions, the children took them as a role model when they shared to their teachers that they would also want to be like these big students when they grow up!
The 1.5hr session spent between the preschoolers and the secondary school students were like eternity. They both did not want to end it as they kept on working together till the craft is complete. Beautiful relationship was built and we do hope that this will not be the last. Wishing all the Sec 3NT Meridien Secondary School students best of luck in their upcoming exams!
From the bottom of our heart, we thank you for making this opportunity a fruitful session for all and for the priceless moments created, as a precious memories for keepsake!
