This June school holiday was on par; if not more meaningfully spent compared to those in the past!
It was something unique and memorable for the K1 and 2s who gave (of themselves) instead of received (from others). Past school holidays were periods of “Tours” and “Sight-seeing” for the Kindergartners. The different places of interest in Singapore were where they would head for but come this year, all these changed and the Ks stayed in to play host to some strangers-turned-friends people in the neighbourhood. That which brought about the changes was SSDB projects!
SSDB was officially launched on 16th April 2017 with our K1s and K2s boldly and publicly declared “WE ARE NOT TOO SMALL TO HELP!” in gigiantic words on a white banner.
Indeed, the Ks were not, the way they reached out to some 25 community helpers by “gifting” the latter cups of fruits prepared by their little hands. “The weather is hot; uncles and aunties are thirsty; they can eat the fruits we give them!”; the 5- and 6-years old explained their choiced ‘fruit-cup’ project.
All the meaningful experiences gained and delightful memories spent with the different people in the community were etched in each child’s and guest’s mind ss well as on the photos printed in FULL colors displayed on the centre’s notice board!
