Our journey started out by creating awareness to the children about how many people have suffered a lot during the Covid-19 pandemic from lost of jobs to paycut. We reached out to the Community Centre nearby and asked how we could help the residents living in our vicinity. We were told that a rental block nearby had elderly and low income families who depended on food and monetary donations. The children watched stories about such families who live with very little to no food. They shared their feelings and were extremely eager to embark on this journey. The parents of the school generously donated food items that were carefully sorted out by the K2 children. They took turns to choose the food items they wanted and packed the hampers individually. They even wrote positive notes on handmade cards that were hung on each and every hamper. Due to the pandemic, the children were unable to deliver the hampers themselves. However, photos of the happy recipients were shown to them. The smiles on the children’s faces….. priceless!
