Laden with much excitement and joy, the children wore their orange hats to welcome the launching of the Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project last 23rd of April.
The centre principal together with the class representatives initiated the cake-cutting for the party.
The children shared their thoughts on the importance of taking care of the environment and suggested ways that they can participate in the activity.
Alongside this event is also the observance of “Earth Day” with its theme “Protect Our Species.” The children realized the different environmental issues that harm plants and animals. Thus at home, they decorated a star card with their parents to campaign for the protection of endangered species. They brought these star cards to school and made earth-coloured handprints behind it as their pledge to be responsible for the environment.
Prior to this event, a pre-launch activity on the 12th of March, was also done in conjuction with World Water Day. The centre carried out the blue-wave movement whereby both teachers and children dressed themselves in blue to advocate for the importance of water.
A morning mass workout session was done as a kick-start for the programme. Children gained awareness on the water sources in Singapore in the past at present. They also shared ideas on ways to conserve water. To culminate the event, the children engaged themselves in creating water-themed crafts such as making stencil art, rain clouds and paperplate fish bowl.
