SKC has partnered with Singapore National Stroke Association (SNSA) and Angels Initiative from Boehringer Ingelheim for the “FAST Heroes 995” program in our school. Our K2 and K1 children were involved in this program in which it aims to raise awareness of the three key symptoms of stroke and to increase children’s understanding about how to respond in an emergency of someone around them getting a stroke.
This program encourages and enables the children to educate the elderlies in their lives on the symptoms and what to do in case of a stroke event as well. This fosters a sense of appreciation and love for their grandparents at home through showing care and concern.
The children were engaged in various activities such as storytelling, role play as well as art and crafts. They were presented with a presentation regarding stroke and then they did a mini role-play on how they should help a motionless friend who is lying on the ground. They also did art activities which are decorating their superhero masks, creating their own 995 mobile phone as well as a draw up of themselves in a superhero costume!
“I can be a superhero too!” K1s and K2s decorating their superhero masks with craft materials.
“Hello, 995?” Children practicing how to call 995 using the phone they decorated.
