Introduction to the Start Small Dream Big Project (SSDB)
We kick-start the SSDB project by brainstorming with children on ideas on what we can do for this project. Then, we drew a mindmap to gather all of our ideas together and voted for the best idea. The children voted and agreed that showing appreciation to the librarians was the best as they had always loved going to the library and will like to thank them. Thus, we decided to collaborate with Sengkang Public Library as it is the library we often visit!
The children started working on creating thank-you cards for the librarians. They were very thrilled to gift their cards to the librarians.
And today is the day! The children were ready to head to Sengkang Public Library to meet the librarians to gift their thank-you cards. We decided to take the bus there, the children waited excitedly for the bus while holding onto their Ezlink cards. “Bus 83, where are you? Hurry Please!”
Our first time on the public bus, it was so much fun!
Yay, we arrived at Sengkang Public Library! The children were very thrilled to meet the librarians and show them the drawings that they had drew on the cards. The children met the librarians and greeted them with huge smiles on their faces. They gifted the thank-you cards to the librarians and read the messages out to the librarians. “We appreciate your efforts, thank you!” “I really love coming to the library,”. Oh! And we had also a parent join us as well, thank you!
Then, the children helped the librarians to display the thank-you cards in the children’s section. We thanked the librarians again and bid them goodbye, “Goodbye and thank you! We will come again to visit the library!”
After coming back to school, the children had a reflection session and they shared that they enjoyed the experience and they were very elated that they were able to do something to show appreciation to the librarians. It was truly a meaningful experience for the children!
