The theme, “We Care, We Share” is meant to inspire children and inculcate in them, the value of sharing and caring for the people around them.
On 29 July 2022, we had a zoom session with UMC staff which allowed children a peek into the services of the nursing home and how they can contribute to the community. Through the SSDB project, the children also learned on ways they can show care and compassion to the residents at the nursing home.
The Principal introduced our “Special guest” to the children before we move on with the programme.
The children started the programme with a simple ice breaker activity: Freeze Dance!
The representatives from UMC went on to describe the various job scopes of the people working in UMC as well as the types of programmes the Residents go through, throughout their short/ long term stay in UMC.
The aim of the zoom session is to allow the children to understand how else we can help and contribute to the society, knowing that, not everyone is as fortunate as them. Through this session, the children will also learn more about how to show care and compassion for the elderly people amongst their midst.
To get the parents to be a part of this project, the Kindergarten rallied the support of them for a food donation drive for UMC too!
The donation drive started on the 27 June till 29 July. All in all, we collected 4 full cartons of items for UMC! A big thank you to all the parents for your generous contributions! Do look out at this space for more SSDB updates! Till then, God bless you all!
