On the 17th July 2017, we had a soft launch of the “Start Small, Dream Big!” project. We take part in this project every year. This year, we are continuing our aim in reaching out to the elderly in our homes, around our community, as well as underprivileged elderly through a variety of activities we have planned. We aim to raise awareness of the significance and value of the elderly amongst the children.
For the soft launch, we showed the children videos of elderly in Singapore, one of the life of an ice cream seller and a grandmother living a comfortable life with her children taking care of her. The children were asked to compare the two elderly in the scenarios. They shared about their own grandparents and brainstorm ideas on how they can help and show appreaciation to their grandparents at home and the elderly in their community.
Lastly, to wrap up, the children wrote a pledge on how they can show appreciation to the elderly around them.
Our K1s and K2s are looking forward to working closely with the pioneers; their grandparents and the elderly at the Eldercare through a variety of activities planned in the upcoming months. 😊
