Our K2 classroom recently embarked on an exciting journey into the world of plants with a hands-on seedling activity! This activity was designed to give students a deeper understanding of plant biology, the life cycle of plants, and the essential role that light, water, and nutrients play in growth. Each student was given the opportunity to plant their own seeds in small containers, using soilless medium like cotton balls or paper towels. They carefully watered their seeds and placed them in a sunny spot, or under grow lights, to mimic the conditions plants need to thrive. Over the following weeks, students observed their seedlings sprout, grow, and develop leaves and shared their observation with their classmates.

VISIT TO KOK FAH FARM
The N2 children visited Kok Fah Farm, where they learned about both traditional and modern farming methods, as well as the secret techniques farmers use to grow their vegetables. They had the opportunity to spend a day engaging in sensory learning, exploring different types of vegetables. The staff also organized an exciting hands-on seedling activity for the children to enjoy.

Parental Involvement in the planting activity
The children received a pot and seeds from the farm, where they learned all the steps involved in planting. They took their pots home, and with the help of their parents, began the planting activity. Parental involvement in the planting activity enriched the experience, as they guided and supported their children in nurturing the seeds, fostering growth and valuable family bonding. They observed the plant’s growth day by day and shared photos of the progress with their teacher.
