On 29 June 2019, we celebrated Cleaners’ Appreciation Day along with 200+ cleaners from East Coast - Fengshan Town Council.
But wait,
Let’s rewind.
We were learning about our actions for a cleaner environment. We learnt that keeping our environment clean is a shared responsibility. We learnt that the cleaner’s job is not as easy as it seems.
We discussed a lot about how we can show appreciation to our neighbourhood cleaners. That’s when we decided to do a Neighbourhood Clean-up! Read more about it here
But we realised this wasn’t enough. We wrote in to Town Council on the possibility of involvement for their annual Cleaners’ Appreciation Day and it kickstarted many activities and preparation.
We invited Town Council to share about the cleaner’s job. Read more about it here
Shortly afterwhich, we started making small bookmark-liked cards for 200 cleaners (yes, 200). We involved children from all levels to decorate these cards. Some children sneaked a few ‘I love you’ in the cards.
200 cards were a lot to do for the children. However, we reminded ourselves what the cleaners are doing on a daily basis are so much more. The children anticipated the smiles on the cleaners’ faces and persevered on.
Some of our teachers also decided to contribute a little to our everyday heroes. We bought some biscuits to go along with the little cards hand-decorated by the children.
Packing in progress.
Apart from this small token of appreciation, our children prepared a short performance for the cleaners.
Look out for our post on Cleaners’ Appreciation Day!
