Gentleness, warmth, concern and care are just some words that are associated with kindness.
In all that we do, we strive to be kind and spread kindness wherever we go.
Kindness is an interpersonal skill and a skill that aim to hone. We have the opportunity to be kind daily - with our friends, families, the community and even the environment.
As part of our ongoing goal to cultivate kindness, the K1 children visited Kindsville and joined Singa as they learnt more about the values of kindness and graciousness. They also revisited the five magic words - thank you, you’re welcome, please, excuse me and I’m sorry. In addition, they also learnt when and how to put these words to use in different situations. For example, when taking public transport.
The importance of being kind and appreciative was further cultivated at a school level as we invited the children to write/draw their message of thanks to our fellow public transport staff as part of the Singapore Kindness Movement.
It is important that we model and also expose and create opportunities for children regarding the principles of kindness as this will support them in the interactions which they will come across throughout their lives.
Appreciation and gratitude are excellent qualities to possess as these are qualities that are greatly valued. When we express our appreciation for someone, we display that we are thankful for their actions that have helped us in one way or another.
