Phase 1: A Healthier Body and Mind (Parental Collaboration)- 15th July 2022
Children were thrilled to be returning to the outdoors to have fun and get some exercise. Families were included in this activity so that they could spend time outside with their children and loved ones meaningfully. Children were encouraged to snap some snnipets of them and their families engaging in various activites that raise awareness of a healthier lifestyle.
This activity also allows children to build positive social interactions with their families as well. Additionally, they got the opportunity to share their awesome moments with their fellow peers through a show and tell session.
Phase 2: “We Stand Stronger Together”-08th August 2022
Children participated in different “Childhood” games that emphasized perseverance, agility, respect, and teamwork during the National Day Celebration. Some of these games include Police and Thief, Zero-Point, Mother Hen, Ice and Water.
Asides from that, children were also invited to the Get Active! Workout 2022: Dance of the Nation. While exercising, children strengthened both their hand and leg muscles. They also build on their energy within themselves so they can grow strong and happy.
Phase 3: “Showing Appreciation to our Parents”- 15th to 19th August 2022
“When we are grateful, we are often healthier, more positive, and more resilient”.
That was the powerful statement that we empowered our children with.
We began the activity with the Chinese teachers from N1 to K2 facilitating the children into a discussion about the importance, roles, and responsibilities of parents. Children then reflected on their ways of thanking and showing love to their parents back at home. Children shared they demonstrated respect and love by helping their parents with the house chores and hugging.
After the discussion, children were given opportunities to create a flower using different types of media and art tools as an act of kindness. As the children carried out the activity, it strengthens their fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, and finger dexterity.
Towards the end of the week, children got to gift their flowers to their parents and thanked them.
