In conjunction to the topic that has been discussed, the teachers planned a trip to Kampong Glam Community Centre for an event, “Breakfast with Love”, by Hope organisation. The children together with their parents and family members will be involved in giving out breakfast to the old folks living around the Jalan Besar area. Before the event, the children practiced serving lunch to each other during their meal time in school. Equipping them with simple gestures like saying “Enjoy your meal” and “Hi”, the children performed well with their roles. The old folks that they are serving are those who are living on their own in a studio apartment or a one room flat. This breakfast event targets to bring the old folks together for a morning of food and entertainment. On the 1st of July 2017 on a Saturday morning, the children, their parents and the teachers came in full force, about 50 of them to grace this special event.They served breakfast, gave out the cards they designed for the old folks and did two performances. At the end of the day, two of the children with their parents presented two of their self made books to the guest of honour, MP of Jalan Besar GRC. To conclude the project, the teachers did a little presentation of the whole project and presented each family with a certificate of participation, a door gift and a copy of the children’s self made book. They ended the day with Nasi Lemak for lunch. It has been a meaningful journey for the children, parents and teachers.
