This year, Bright Kids @ Pasir Ris embarked on a project around Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19). Many people in Singapore are affected in light of the current Covid-19 pandemic. Through this project, we hope to instill empathy in our children and at the same time, show love and kindness to people in our community. We aim to do so by giving thanks and sending encouragement through a series of meaningful activities!
In the first phase of our project which took place during Circuit Breaker, children were introduced to the virus through a variety of stories, videos and songs. As part of our Home-Based Learning package, children were engaged in a variety of hands-on activities with their parents!
Look at our Giant Virus Model! 🦠
This activity provides a realistic depiction of how the coronavirus model looks like. The protein spikes, represented by q-tips, are what germs use to stick and break in to the cells.
Once the germs are inside, the virus can replicate. That is how they multiply and spread!
Yikes! The ‘germs’ are all over our hands and toys! ☹️
“It’s the flour virus!!”
This activity visibly demonstrates how the virus can be easily transmitted from our hands to the things we touch. Look at the ‘germs’!
INVISIBLE GERMS!!
Germs spread so quickly and we are not able to see them with our naked eyes. However, this does not mean that our hands are clean!
Eeeew… germs!
Children had the chance to observe how germs, represented by paint, spread across their hands. Proper handwashing is extremely important so that we can prevent ourselves from falling sick.
Looking forward to learning more about Coronavirus with our little ones in the next phase of our project! ✨
