The Kindergarten 1 and Kindergarten 2 children learnt about how littering could have harmful effect on the environment. They had a pre-activity called “Sea, Lakes or Forest.” They sorted the animals according to their environment and shared what would happen to the animals if waste were thrown into such environment.
The children also created their own banner to bring to East Coast Park. This year, they collaborated with Public Hygiene Council (PHC) to keep the beach clean by picking up litter on 11 May 2018. The process of beach clean-up educated the children on the consequences of littering and the importance of saving the environment. Parents were also invited to the beach clean-up as it was a good opportunity for bonding time with their child.
After the beach clean-up, the children had a post-activity. They did a water filtration experiment to understand the concepts of water pollution and the importance of clean water to animals and humans.
