As part of spreading awareness to keep the environment clean, green and healthy, Playgroup children practised three R’s - Reduce, Reuse and Recyle in their daily activities.
Children actively engaged in setting up the learning centres using recycled materials.
After gathering the materials to be placed in the Dramatic centre for the ”Supermarket” set up, children painted the empty carton boxes and used it as supermarket shelves/ display rack.
Playgroup children worked on making a ”Cardboard City” at the Blocks centre. They recycled various sized boxes and used it to construct buildings, houses and other structures.
Children engaged in decorating the blocks centre. They make use of tissue tubes to create fireworks effect in the Singapore’s skyline background at the Blocks centre.
Children also involved in seed planting activity. They recycled bottles, tissue tubes and egg carton as seed pots.
Teacher Sahmah showed to the playgroup children how she recycled paint bottles to create a self watering pot.
Children were encouraged to minimise the use of A4 paper/ drawing paper and use cardboard cut outs as their canvasses for their artwork.
Playgroup children learn the impact of three R’s in the environment. They learn and practice how to Reduce waste, Reuse instead of throwing away things and to Recycle waste materials by converting it to something new.
