In this year’s SSDB project, Bright Kids @ Pasir Ris aims to spread love and kindness to everyone in the community around our school!
During Hari Raya’s fasting period, our children, family and teachers decided to start a food donation booth outside our school for everyone to play a part in helping the needy in the community. Parents and residents of the estate were encouraged to donate food and drinks that are halal and not expired, so as to keep the kindness going.
It started with just a few contribution…
Then more came along to share their food too!
This food donation booth lasted for a month where food was constantly donated and replenished from the sharing. As it is a community outreach, residents are free to take food that they need from the booth. Some of the food contributed were mostly staple foods like rice sack, oil, dried food, condiments, snacks, and even a variety of packet drinks.
Through this outreach, our school aims to promote diversity among the community and inculcate the values of sharing and kindness in children. This also inspired the children to show their compassion and encouraged them to look for more ways to keep goodwill sharing among the residents in the community. Our school hopes that we can instill a spirit of giving and generosity in children through our little actions in our daily lives.
As the saying goes, START SMALL, DREAM BIG!
