On the theme of animals for the months of July, August and September, the different classes learned various topics in relation to animals. Depending on their class and age group, the topics covered names of different animals, how to care for animals, where animals live, or traits of different animals.
Singapore Zoo :
To help the children’s learning experience and in celebration of Singapore National Day, the childcare students, along with some of the parents of Appleland, went on a Learning Journey to the Singapore Zoo on August 7, 2024.
Prior to reaching the Zoo:
When we entered the zoo, we were greeted with lush greenery and fascinating animals as we walked from the Treetop Trails to the centre of the zoo.
In the Zoo
Once we reached the centre, we took the tram to have a quick glance of the Zoo and its captivating assortment of animals. As we rode the tram we saw, heard and smelt the animals and their habitat. The tram also provided some information on the zoo and its animals.

After one big round, we headed to the Wild Africa Zone, which piqued the interest of the students and the teachers. The children excitedly shared what they saw with their peers, teachers and parents as they observed the environment.

As lunch time approached, the children grew tired, so we gingerly walked to a pavilion next to Kidz World to have our lunch.

After lunch, we slowly walked our way back to the entrance, stopping from time to time to see other exhibits. The children grew weary from all the walking and excitement they had in one day and slept soundly upon returning to Appleland.
Return to Appleland
Overall, it was a wonderful learning experience. Some of them were able to see their favourite animals, amazed at the sight of different animals roaming in the treetops. It also gave the children an up-close view and exposure to different animals, widening their knowledge in a memorable way.
