A connection is defined as a tie, or a link to something or someone. Human connection is a deep bond that is formed between people as they exchange positive energy and build trust. An authentic human connection is when we feel valued, understood, and gives us a sense of belonging.
This human connection is the driving aim behind Little Atlas’s first Charity Carnival, which we celebrated in conjunction with our nation’s 57th birthday at our new campus at Aljunied.
While it’s fun to invite friends and family to spend quality time together, it’s also a significant aspect of our physical health and mental well-being. Being able to put down the phone, gather together, and create some fun, meaningful memories.
Focusing on our Start Small Dream Big theme “We Heartly Connect”, our Charity Carnival brought together our families, friends and the community for the first time on such a large scale.
In-person interactions are crucial to reap the full benefits of social connection. Those who experience less loneliness cultivate meaningful relationships, including a social network and are able to build committed relationships.
Spreading our “connection” net a little wider, we reached out to our vendors and neighbouring businesses in our building to join us in raising funds for the less privileged children and families in our community. They were exceptionally supportive and spared no time setting up educational resources, toys and game booths, even going so far as to donate their carnival proceeds to our Charity coffer.
We were humbled to see the sheer number of people coming into the school. For once, we were glad to see unfamiliar faces as it meant that we had touched the hearts of the public through our children’s flyer distribution efforts.
Our teachers outdid themselves, from the planning stages of what booths they would set up based on countries around the world, and setting up the stalls, to the actual day of donning their respective costumes and hawking their wares. They were instrumental in creating the atmosphere and ambience of being at a real international carnival, with food and games from different countries.
We are truly blessed to be able to reach out and touch our community and connect with them on such a deep level. We cherish the bonds created with our family, friends and community during this Charity Carnival, and hope to touch more people’s lives by paying it forward. Through our collaboration with the “Children’s Wishing Well” , and our contribution to the less privileged in our community, it is our wish that we may ease some of their stress and allow them to make and enjoy more memories and connections with their loved ones.
