Since the launch of our project, we were involved in other activities like learning about the filtering process as well as our Water Collection to promote reusing water.
Water filtration
With the intentions of introducing the children to the concept of reusing water and eventual access to clean water, we conducted a water filtration experiment to show a simplified process of how dirty water is cleaned.
In this experiment, we tested out using different materials like filter paper, rocks and sand to filter out dirty water. The children had the opportunity to predict and observe if residue would be filtered out from the water. For example, some the larger objects in the dirty water like stones or branches would be filtered out however the water may still remain dirty. The different classes conducted the experiment with different variables and had varying results which were displayed during our exhibition.

Rain Water Collection
Another more direct way of teaching the children about reusing water was through this activity. We placed pails on the third floor of our centre to collect rainwater . We then brainstormed with the children what are the ways we could use the collected water for. The children came up with using it to water the indoor plants. Which we did!

With that, the children learnt different ways that we can reuse water. Stay tuned to find out how the children advocated their learning to others through our video and exhibition!
