To further enhance the children’s understanding about the green spaces that can be found in Singapore, the N2 children were given the opportunities to observe and explore Yishun Park and HortPark through a virtual tour experience. The children participated actively in the discussions and shared their prior experiences and visits to the parks. Based on their observations via the video, they were then invited to share their thoughts about the similarities and differences between the two parks. They were also encouraged to share the park that they prefer and explain their reasonings.
On the other hand, the K1 children used the iPads to explore more about HortPark in their small groups. They were invited to use Google Earth to observe the different areas at the park such as the Nature Playgarden, Themed Gardens, Butterfly Garden trail and more. After the exploration, the K1 children gathered together to share about their findings and describe the places that they saw through the virtual tour. They also talked about what they liked from the park and which area they would like to visit in future.
The N2 and K1 children enjoyed learning about biodiversity and the green spaces that can be found in Singapore. They are excited to delve deeper into the topic by exploring more about the gardens that we have in our centre.
