Prior to our launch, children had a discussion on how to reduce increasing environmental pollution by recycling. To help achieve this goal of caring for the environment, children participated in an activity of examining things collected for sorting into disposable and reusable categories. During the process, they identified some of the disposable things that can actually be reused before discarded as rubbish and this helped in rubbish generation. They explored ways on how the things can be reused for creating into crafts and functional items such as stationery organiser.
In conjunction with our sub-theme on ‘My Family Working Together’, parents were invited to support their child’s learning journey by brainstorming with child on how/what he/she would like to create using recyclable materials found at home. Parents participated actively and children presented their works in class and talked about the process as well as the source of the materials collected for use.
During our school mini-sports event on 14 Apr 2022, children had so much fun playing the games. They were encouraged to create the rings at home for play. They also explored and talked about other things that can be used instead of the equipment set-up.
Using beverage cartons, kitchen towel rolls, vitagen bottles etc, children reused them again to create into percussion instruments and launched out ‘Every Little Effort Counts’ , singing to the tune of K1 M&M welcome song!
