Written By: Farisha Ashikin On 22nd April we celebrated Hari Raya cum Earth Day. In the morning was Hari Raya Party and in the afternoon after nap, was Earth Day celebration.
We started off at 3pm, switched off all the lights and gathered at the common area to talk and learn more about Earth Day. We watched a few videos and sang some songs regarding saving the earth and why it is important to save the earth.
Teacher June demonstrated to the children why plants are important as it gives out clean oxygen and protects us from the dangerous UV rays. Plants help to cool the land and the atmosphere down and help to soften the ground too so that more plants can grow. We did talked about the plant life cycle and what it needs to grow and survive, such as, water and sun.
During the discussion, some of the children suggested a few ways for us to save the earth, such as, switching off the lights after using, don’t let the tap water running, use a cup when brushing teeth and keep shower time as short as possible perhaps 5 minutes.
