The children from N2 Honesty were engaged in meaningful discussions using the online resource from S.E.A Aquarium. We focused on the topic of coral bleaching which is a consequence of high usage of electricity. Children identified ways to save electricity at home and in school.
Through a current issue, children learnt about the impacts on corals when coral bleaching occurs. Additionally, they watched a short video which depicts the physical changes when coral bleaching occurs. Children identified that the corals “explode” and lose their colour. Subsequently, children were engaged in an experiment which provided a concrete experience on the transformation of coloured water to colourless.
Thereafter, children explored lines on corals using the coorperative learning strategy - Carousel. They rotated around 4 stations which displayed different corals and created their versions using play dough and twigs to recreate the lines. Thereafter, children painted their corals.
