Kinderland Preschool @ Yio Chu Kang, this year, collaborated with Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) for the “I Love Otters” to promote awareness of the otters. Through the learning journey, the children learnt more about the otters, their natural habitat and the challenges they faced living in an urban environment.
Parents were invited to join us for the “I Love Otters” Carnival at the Kinderland Preschool @Yio Chu Kang on 21 July 2017. The event was also part of ECDA’s “Start Small Dream Big” initiative. Parents were informed that the nett proceeds from the event would go to the Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) Conservation Fund for the purpose of conserving Singapore’s endangered native wildlife, in addition to capacity building, education and awareness programmes on key species and conservation issues in the Southeast Asian regions.
During the carnival, different booths, such as games, food and otters headgear craft activity were set up. The children created their own crafts such as otter T-shirts, otter keychains and tie dyed bags were for sale. The Kindergarten 2 children were given the opportunity to experience as entrepreneurs first-hand, promoting and selling their products.
Our children had a close up encounter with the otters.
Booth selling otter related craft works, such as keychains and t-shirts were set up outside the classes.
Children have a fun time, managing their food booth.
