This year, Kinderland Kindergarten @ Yio Chu Kang collaborated with Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) for the “I Love Otters” project to promote awareness of the otters. The children went on an incredible learning journey to the Singapore Zoological Garden for a better understanding of the smooth-coated otters. They had a hands-on opportunity to learn from the zookeepers on how to take care of the otters.
On 21 July 2017, the parents joined us for the “I Love Otters” Carnival at our Centre. Keeping to the spirit of experiential learning, the Kinderland Little Entrepreneurs’ Programme was incorporated as part of the “Start Small Dream Big” project, and the nett proceeds from the event would go to the Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) Conservation Fund.
During the Carnival, the children, dressed in traditional clothes, sold traditional foods from our four major races. They also sold cups and photo frames related to otters which they had made. The children were involved in the planning and implementation of the event which allowed them to develop independence and responsibility, as well as the ability to work together as a team.
We are going to a Learning Journey at the Singapore Zoo.

We set up many booths selling otter themed crafts, eg hand-painted mugs and photo frames.
