PCF Bukit Batok East Blk 289G is located in the heartlands, and is easily identified by the colourful murals adorning the walls. Yet, these drawings are not merely to entertain the children while they await class, but rather serve to educate. The center uses the images to teach various lessons of nutrition, exercise, reading skills, respect and values.
The center has a niche in music, and also has a focus in the intangible values of caring, respect, courtesy and responsibility. Character development is a large part of the daily lessons, and opportunities are taken even in between lessons and during snack times to be taught. A holistic curriculum provided by the Ministry of Education is followed to ensure as many facets of learning are given to the children as possible. Three languages (Chinese, Malay, Tamil) are available at this center.
The center is also notable for using videos and hands-on experiments in order to reinforce facts and knowledge taught in class. To better run a motor skill development programme, it is also equipped with a brand new gym and new equipments.
"Mrs Tan-Ong Chai Hoon and her team prepared both my daughters academically for formal education in Primary One, but more importantly, they instilled in them a love for learning." - Mrs Mary Wah, parent.
